The Youth Center facility offers a safe and comfortable environment for teens to interact with one another and qualified staff members. The Youth Center is open to all youth ages 11-18 or in 5th-12th grades. Those in 5th and 6th grades are welcome to attend weeknights from 3-6 pm. Teens in 7th through 12th grades are welcome to attend the Center during all open hours. Parents are always welcome to visit the Center or spend time volunteering with us.

In addition to the nightly programs we also have a number of seasonal offerings including our holiday dinners, prom dress giveaway program, community garden and field trips.
Our staff work hard to ensure that we offer something for everyone at the Youth Center. Many of the ideas for our programs come from teens and their parents. If you have an idea for a program or event that you would like to see offered in Cortland please share it with us. We strive to offer relevant and exciting programming for all youth in our community.

Youth Bureau Intern Experiences Available: The Cortland Youth Bureau offers intern placement through local colleges. For college students who are interested in working in the fields of Recreation, Sociology, Education or other Human Service areas, the Youth Bureau might be the right place for you. Intern opportunities range from 8 to 40 hours per week depending on your program requirements. Positions are available with both the Youth Bureau or the Youth Center, for Fall, Spring or Summer semesters. With a state of the art Youth Center, Skateboard Park and extensive recreation and youth service program, the Youth Bureau offers unlimited experiences. Looking For Experience Working With Youth? The Cortland Youth Bureau is looking for part-time help to work with teens at the Youth Center. This Recreation Attendant position is a unique opportunity for those who plan to pursue a career in a youth-related field. The position does not offer a large number of hours, but will provide you with a valuable work experience. Youth Internship: The Youth Center offers a paid six-month internship program to kids 14 and older. The position involves field-trip planning, in-house programming, event coordination, clerical tasks, and general assistance with daily operational chores. Everyone who applies will be interviewed (applicants 17 and under must have their working papers). Hiring typically takes place in April and October.
