City Parks

City of Cortland Parks

The City of Cortland’s parks provide residents and visitors with a variety of opportunities to enjoy recreation, sports, nature, and time with family and friends. Our parks include playgrounds, athletic fields, basketball and tennis courts, pickleball courts, walking areas, picnic facilities, aquatic facilities, open green space, and other recreational amenities.

City parks are available for public use throughout the year, with individual facilities and programs operating seasonally.

Park Hours

City parks are generally open daily from dawn to dusk.

Certain facilities, programs, athletic fields, pools, and special events may have different operating hours. Parks or portions of parks may also be closed temporarily for maintenance, weather, construction, special events, or other safety reasons.

Please observe posted hours and closure notices.

Alcohol, Tobacco, Smoking, Vaping & Marijuana

City parks are family-friendly public spaces.

  • Alcoholic beverages are not permitted in City parks except at Yaman Park when specifically authorized and permitted by the Cortland Youth Bureau. The City ordinance identifies Yaman Park as the only City park where alcoholic beverages may be permitted, and a written permit is required.
  • Smoking and tobacco use are prohibited in designated City outdoor areas, including public playgrounds and other areas covered by the City's smoking regulations.
  • Vaping and the use of electronic smoking devices are prohibited wherever smoking is prohibited. City regulations specifically include vaping and electronic aerosol delivery systems within the City's smoking restrictions.
  • Marijuana/cannabis smoking or vaping is not permitted in City parks. The City's smoking regulations include cannabis within the definition of smoking.
  • Illegal drugs and controlled substances are prohibited.
  • Please do not leave cigarette butts, tobacco products, vape devices, or other waste in City parks.

Pets

Pets must follow City regulations and posted rules for individual parks and facilities. Owners are responsible for keeping pets under control and cleaning up after them. Additional restrictions may apply at specific facilities, including seasonal restrictions at Yaman Park.
